Crochet Terminology and Abbreviations

These are the basic crochet terms used in my amigurumi patterns.
In my English patterns I use the U.S. crochet abbreviations.

US/CANADA UK/AUS/NZ GERMAN/ DEUTCHFRENCH/ FRANÇAIS SPANISH/ ESPAÑOL
chain = ch chain = ch LM = Luftmasche

ml = maille en l’air cad = cadeneta
single crochet = sc double crochet = dcFM = feste Masche

ms = maille serrée pb = punto bajo
st = stitch st = stitch M = Masche m = maille

pto = punto
slip stitch = sl stslip stitch = sl st KM = Kettmasche mc = maille coulée

pr = punto raso
half double crochet = hdc half treble crochet = htrhStb = halbes Stäbchen db = demi-bride

mpa = medio punto alto
double crochet = dc treble crochet = trStb = Stäbchen b = bride

pa = punto alto
reverse single crochet (crab stitch) = rev sc reverse double crochet = rev dcKrebsstich ms inversée punto cangrejo

  2. hello, i just wanted to tell you that there's a little mistake at the UK/AUS/NZ row, wehre de reverse double crochet should be "rev dc" instead of "rev sc"

  14. mma is used in Italian:

    mma = mezza maglia alta
    means "hdc - half double crochet"

    In Spanish it's : "mpa - medio punto alto".

    I have not seen "mma" used in Spanish. You might be referring to an Italian pattern.

  16. Stb means "Stäbchen" which means "double crochet"
    Don't know what "verl" means.
